SMVITM celebrated 70th Independence Day of India, in the college campus.
Principal of the college Prof. Dr. Thirumaleshwara Bhat hoisted the National flag along with the Chief Guest of the function Sri Raghavendra Tantry, Member SSVMET, Udupi.
Principal addressed the gathering and ignited the young minds of SMVITM, to develop the habit of identifying the societal needs and provide the most appropriate solution, in their best possible way. He also appealed the faculties, to inspire and guide students to take up a lead role in the development of the country.
He gave an over view of the difficulties faced by the great leaders and citizens of India in the process of making India an Independent nation and also highlighted how India has developed into a self sufficient country in this 70 years of gaining its independence.
Prizes were distributed by the Chief Guest Sri Raghavendra Tantry, to the winners of the singing, painting and essay writing competitions organized for the college students on account of 70th Independence Day of India.
HODs of all the disciplines, Faculty members, Staff and students of the college attended the function and witnessed the national flag being hoisted.
Ms. Ramyashree of Dept. of CSE, welcomed the gathering and compeered the program. Security officer Mr. Madu and Physical Director Mr. Prashanth M. D guided the dignitaries in the process of hoisting the flag. Ms. Kavyashree rendered the vote of thanks and the program was concluded with the singing of national anthem.
