SMVITM Celebrates Vibrant Hostel Day 2025! (May 12, 2025)

Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM) recently hosted a spectacular Hostel Day Celebration on May 12, 2025, bringing together students, faculty, and management for an evening of camaraderie and talent. The event saw enthusiastic participation from hostel students across all years, along with the CEO, Principal, Dean Academics, HODs, and several faculty members.

Leading up to the main celebration, the Hostel Committee organized two thrilling sporting events. The boys showcased their cricketing prowess in the Hostel Premier League (Cricket), while the girls engaged in a lively Lagori competition. Coordinated by Mr. Paul Sooraj (PD) and Ms. Shubhashree, these events were a resounding success, offering students a fantastic platform to display their skills and enjoy some healthy competition.

The main event officially kicked off at 6:00 PM with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony. The symbolic lamp was lit by distinguished guests including Prof. Dr. Radhakrishna S. Aithal, CEO, Shri Sode Vadiraja Mutt Educational Institutions; Prof. Dr. Thirumaleshwara Bhat, Principal; Prof. Dr. Nagaraj Bhat, Dean Academics; Mr. Ganesh Srinivasa Shetty, Chief Warden; Mr. Rajesh Devadiga, Resident Boys Hostel Warden; Ms. Shubhashree, Resident Girls Hostel Warden; and two student representatives. This auspicious beginning set the stage for an evening filled with entertainment and excitement.

The evening unfolded with a dynamic series of cultural programs and engaging fun games. Students captivated the audience with vibrant dance performances, soulful musical renditions, and a highly entertaining skit presented by the final-year students, which humorously depicted the everyday experiences of hostel life. The interactive games further enhanced the lively atmosphere, fostering a strong sense of unity among all participants.

Honoring Our Pillars of Support

A special segment of the celebration was dedicated to felicitating key individuals who have significantly contributed to the hostel community. The students extended their heartfelt gratitude to:

• Mr. Rajesh Devadiga, Resident Boys Hostel Warden, for his unwavering commitment to the well-being of the boys’ hostel.
• Ms. Shubhashree, Resident Girls Hostel Warden, for her dedicated care and efficient management of the girls’ hostel.
• Mr. Prakash Shettigar, Canteen Proprietor, for his consistent dedication to providing quality and delicious meals to the students.

A Night Under the Stars: Campfire & Farewell Feast

The seamless coordination of the entire event was expertly managed by Dr. Raviprabha, Student Welfare Officer. As the evening drew to a close, a memorable campfire was organized on the college grounds. The crackling fire, coupled with the cheerful atmosphere, brought everyone together for an evening of laughter, music, and stories under the starlit sky. Students enthusiastically sang songs, performed impromptu skits, and participated in more fun games, creating lasting memories of friendship and joy.

The celebration culminated in a delightful special dinner, generously sponsored by Mr. Prakash Shettigar, the beloved canteen proprietor. This thoughtful gesture added a perfect touch to the festive spirit, bringing the Hostel Day Celebration to a truly satisfying conclusion for both students and faculty.
