Golden Start Rating by IIC, Ministry of Education, Govt. of India.

Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management Bantakal achieved 4.5 golden star rating in the field of innovation, entrepreneurship related activities held during the academic year 2019-20. In the latest ranking released by the institution Innovation council, Ministry of Education, Govt. of India, the institute received highest ranking among many colleges in the South-West region.

In the year 2018, the Ministry of Education (MoE) through MoE’s Innovation Cell (MIC) launched the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) program in collaboration with AICTE for Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) to systematically foster the culture of innovation and start-up ecosystem in education institutions. Primarily, IICs’ role is to engage large number of faculty, students and staff in various innovation and entrepreneurship related activities such as ideation, Problem solving, Proof of Concept development, Design Thinking, IPR, project handling and management at Pre-incubation/Incubation stage, etc., so that innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem gets established and stabilized in HEIs.

To meet these objectives of IIC, Ministry of Education, SMVITM established IIC cell in the institute in the year 2019 and conducted various activities to develop start-up culture among students and achieved this ranking in the very first year of establishment.

The IIC council of SMVITM consists of many prominent members. The team is led by Dr. Thirumaleshwara Bhat, Principal, Dr. Ganesh Aithal, Vice Principal and the President and Convener of IIC Mr. Arun Upadhyaya. The team also includes prominent external members from reputed institutes and industries such as Dr. Niranjan U C, Manipal Dot Net Private Limited, Manipal, Dr. Y Shrihari Upadhyaya, MUTBI, Manipal, Mr. Harish B, Premier Investments, Udupi, Mr. Chandrashekar Rao Kuthyar, SangamOne Connected Services Private Limited, Mumbai, Prof. B.S Revankar, Ex-Director, NITK-STEP, Suratkal, Mr. Narasimha Pai, Shree Matha Industries, Katapadi, Udupi. The students and faculty members are also part of the IIC.

The Management, Principal and IIC conveners have complimented all involved in this activity for this wonderful achievement.
