GENEVA CONVENTION DAY RALLY – 2107

The total of 128 students from Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology & Management, Bantakal, representing the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit and the Youth Red Cross (YRC) wing participated in a rally organized as a part of the observance of the Geneva Convention Day in Udupi town on 12 August 2017.

On the occasion, the Udupi branch of Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) launched a fund raising program for its community service activities. The rally was inaugurated by Shri Pramod Madhwaraj, Minister of Youth Affairs, Sports and Fisheries, Govt of Karnataka. In his inaugural address, he opined that everyone should have an understanding of the Geneva Convention Day and come forward to raise funds for the noble cause of humanitarian services rendered by organizations like the Red Cross.

Smt Priyanka Francis, Deputy Commissioner Udupi district, congratulated the organizers on holding the rally and lauded the initiatives of the Red Cross in the District. Chairman of Indian Red Cross Society, Karnataka state, Mr. Basrur Rajeev Shetty, officials from Indian Red Cross Society Udupi branch were also present in the program. The rally was flagged off from Mahatma Gandhi Stadium, Ajjarkad Udupi and ended at Rajangana of Shri Krishna Mutt, moving via Big Bazaar, K M Marg, Alankar Theatre and Service bus stand. The Youth Red Cross Coordinator of the college, Mr. Kishor Kumar Aroor and departmental coordinator Mr. Narayan Nayak were also participated in the rally.
