Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management, Bantakal, Udupi in association with Karnataka Science and Technology Academy (KSTA), Government of Karnataka organized a Five Days Faculty Development Program on “Natural Language Processing”. The program was inaugurated by Dr. Surendra Shetty, HOD, MCA, NMAMIT, Nitte on 25th July 2022 at 9:30AM in the college premises.
The Chief Guest of the program Dr. Surendra Shetty, in his inaugural address spoke about the importance of Natural Language Processing (NLP) in day-to-day life. He gave examples of various sectors where NLP plays a vital role. Dr. Shetty briefly explained about pre processing method which acts as a foundation for any processing techniques. He also stressed upon the importance of data set collection and organization of the collected data. He also highlighted certain research areas and challenges that have scope of improvement which can be considered for future research. He concluded his speech with words of appreciation for conducting this FDP and encouraged the participants to make the best use of this FDP.
Sri. Rathnakumar, Secretary, Shri Sode Vadiraja Mutt Education Trust, Udupi was the guest of honor and he congratulated the department for conducting the need of the hour topic. He said that, the young budding minds in our college will work on the societal issues using NLP and will ensure to reach the expected level of engineering outcome.
Dr. Thriumaleshwara Bhat, Principal presided over the ceremony and he said that to meet technological challenges these kinds of FDPs will cater the needs of the participants.
Dr Sachin S Bhat, HoD of ECE Dept. welcomed the gathering highlighting the importance of Natural Language Processing in our day to day life. More than 200 faculty members and researchers across the country participated through blended mode. Dr. Ganesh Aithal, Vice Principal was present for the ceremony.
Mr. Ranjith Bhat, Sr. Asst. Professor, ECE Dept. introduced the Chief Guest. and Ms. Yogeshwary B H, Program coordinator proposed the vote of thanks. Ms. Akshatha Rao, Asst. Professor from ECE Dept. was the master of ceremony.
