Civil Students Field Visit to building under construction

The Department of Civil engineering of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology, in association with Entrepreneurship development cell and STHAPATI organized a “Field Visit” to Signature apartments,
Bannanje site, Udupi construction site on 13th April 2023. In the construction site, residential apartments building pile foundation construction was in progress. The Site Engineer Mr. Sharath and Mr. Harish explained the soil condition and the requirement of pile foundation. Using structural drawing the detailing of reinforcement of pile foundation was explained in detail.

The Students verified the reinforcement details for the pile foundation. In the site the students properly checked diameter of bars, spacing of tie bars and longitudinal bars. The students checked the binding wire connection provided by the laborers. The students thoroughly crossed verified structural drawing and detailing of reinforcement of pile foundation. The slump test was conducted on site for the RMC mix by the students and the slump found had good workability. Students also calculated the quantity of concrete required for a pile. The students got excellent experience of evaluating the work progress, quantity and quality of work. The students reported that works progress is good. The quantity and quality of work are as per the standards and laborers are preparing the reinforcement as per the structural drawings.
