Career Opportunities for Mechanical Engineering in Merchant Navy

The Department of Mechanical Engineering in association with Alumni cell of the institute has organized an alumni talk on “Career Opportunities for Mechanical Engineering in Merchant Navy” on 12 February 2024 at 11:15 AM. Our proud alumnus of 2015-2019 batch Mr. Ashish H Prabhu, currently working as Marine Engineer, Anglo Eastern was the resource person of the program.

Mr. Ashish H Prabhu, in his address briefed the career opportunities for mechanical engineering graduates in merchant navy. Mr. Ashish has thrown light on the following aspects in his address.

• How to get into shipping companies?
• Job profile, roles and responsibilities of a marine engineer.
• Incentives and facilities provided by the shipping companies to their employees.
• Challenges faced by the marine engineers while sailing.
• Institutes providing good training and placements in merchant navy.

Department alumni coordinator Mr. Hithesh Mendon was coordinated the program. Around 32 students and few faculty members have attended the program. HOD of Mechanical Engineering Dr. Raja Yateesh Yadav has handed over memento and appreciation letter to the speaker and thanked all the attendees. Mr. Ananth Mohan Mallya has compeered the program and the program was concluded by 12:15 PM.
