BUSINESS COMMUNICATION SKILL

Ms.Vidya Bhat, Placement Dept, SMVITM, Bantakal took up a training program on Business Communication Skills for the II semester students of SMVITM. This value added course on Business Communication Skills was conducted using the Language Lab for all the second semester students of the Academic Year 2017-18. Around 300 students across all branches have participated in the course.

English communication is a skill that can be perfected only through constant practice and continuous exposure to the language. All available resources were tapped optimally so as to provide an encouraging environment for learning and practicing the spoken language. The role of spoken and written English in the business context was emphasized as it is the link to communicate effectively to achieve the common goals of every organization.

Hence, the focus given to effective communication combined with the confidence gained through life skills understanding that has been the highlight of the whole session. These skills along with sessions on business and personal grooming, resume writing, social etiquettes and SWOT analysis was dealt with as a means for grooming the young adults in terms of personal growth.

The Language Lab was also utilized effectively for teaching presentation skills, resume writing, company groundwork, Linked in profiling, etc. which facilitated classroom engagement and interaction via computer-based exercises and activities to maximize language immersion
