Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management, Bantakal, under the aegis of its IEEE Student Branch, recently organized an insightful awareness program titled “Beyond the Classroom: Discover IEEE for Professional Growth.” The event aimed to enlighten both faculty and students on the myriad opportunities available through association with the world’s largest technical professional society, The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
Ms. Ashwini V. R., Assistant Professor, Department of ECE, Canara Engineering College Mangalore, served as the resource person for the program. She commenced by highlighting the profound importance of IEEE as a professional society, underscoring the benefits of establishing relevant sub-societies under the IEEE umbrella at the collegiate level.
Ms. Ashwini further elaborated on the “Women in Engineering” (WIE) group of IEEE, explaining its significant advantages for female faculty members in fostering networking and collaboration with fellow researchers from both academia and industry. She also shed light on various funding opportunities, such as research grants, available for faculty members to explore.
A key highlight of the session was the virtual interaction with successful individuals who shared their inspiring IEEE journeys. Ms. Jayasudha B. S. K., Senior Product Engineer at Harman International, Bangalore, recounted how her IEEE association ignited her interest in Digital Signal Processing, ultimately leading her to her dream job. Dr. Bijuna Kunju K, Professor at TKMCE Kollam, shared her rich experience, tracing her path from being a student volunteer at IEEE during her college days to her current role as a senior member, exploring numerous opportunities over the years.
The informative session witnessed the participation of Dr. Radhakrishna S.
