Awareness program for the farmers at SMVITM

Civil Engineering department of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management in association with National Service Scheme (NSS) and Krishi Vijnana Kendra, Brahmavara organized an awareness program for the farmers from the neighboring villages on 21^st Nov 2020 at the college premises.

Resource person Dr. Jayaprakash, Scientist, K.V.K Brahmavar addressed the farmers regarding the soil health and fertility. In his address he has explained the problems faced by the farmers in coastal region due to the temperature and saline nature of the soil. He encouraged the farmers to inculcate the habit of adapting organic composting techniques to enhance the fertility of the soil for the longer run.

Another resource person Dr. Dhananjay B, Scientist, K.V.K Brahmavar gave inputs on the adaption of scientific irrigation techniques by giving an illustration of mulching sheet usage. Dr. Chaithanya, Scientist K.V.K Brahmavar stressed upon the scientific approach for the cultivation of jasmine flower. Dr. Sachin, U.S Scientist gave awareness on diseases and usage of pesticides in jasmine flower cultivation.

Dr. Thirumaleshwara Bhat, Principal, Dr. Ganesh Aithal Vice Principal, Shri Ramakrishna Sharma, Jasmine cultivator were present in the program. Dr. Sandeep Nayak, Head of the Civil Engineering Department organized the program.
