Alumnus talk on “ Job opportunities in government sectors and skill set development for civil engineers”

Alumni cell in association with the Department of Civil Engineering organized an Alumni interaction activity to the current pre-final year students. The talk was by Mr. Bhuvanamitra of 2017 passed out batch. Presently he is pursuing M-Tech by research in NITK Surathkal.The talk was held on 27 March 2018.

Mr. Bhuvan highlighted the job opportunities in government sector such as PWD, WRD, railway etc. for Civil Engineers. He explained the importance of experience to become entrepreneur, importance of clearing GATE for higher education and for government sector job.

He explained about competitive exams such as IES, UPSE, CSIR, SSC, and KPSC. He spoke about skill requirement for Civil Engineers in AutoCAD, Revit Architecture, MS Excel, STAAD pro, 3DSmax ETABS, MATLAB, Python softwares.

At last he spoke about a live project handled by him and NITK team in Airport of Mangalore. The project was about designing drainage system for runway. It was very informative talk for the students. The students felt that the talk was very informative and interacted with their senior after the address.
