Alumni cell in association with ECE department of SMVITM, Bantakal organized a talk by Mr. Nikil Acharya from the 2016 outgoing batch, for the present final year students of the department on 15th February 2018. To share with the students about his accumulated experiences in the final year during placements, project and after engineering.
Mr. Nikhil started with how to frame project giving an example of his final year project, how as a group they believed in their project, and with failures they came up with an award winning project. So he pointed “it’s never too late”, believe in you project, give it your all.
Coming to placements he noted few reasons like backlogs, cut off in aggregate, no clarity on what is the process and it’s all based on luck, lack of knowledge – which students think that why they are not getting placed. He illustrated how to face such situations. By putting in front of the students 4 profiles of different categories of students of his batch including himself and even though they had backlogs or they didn’t have good aggregates or didn’t have good speaking skills they are all placed in good companies.
He also told the students to build up strong profile and upload them into sites like angel.co or any other job sites.
He even spoke to students who are planning for further studies. He gave the students idea about taking up higher studies in India as well as he gave the student’s knowledge about the timings to apply for further studies in abroad. He also mentioned about the various scholarships which will help in for the higher studies in abroad.
He concluded saying “Don’t love what you do, do what you love.”
