Department of Computer Science and Engineering of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management, Bantakal, Udupi in association with ISTE student chapter, IEEE student branch and Alumni cell jointly organized a workshop on Docker tool for the benefit of students on Saturday, 22nd February 2025. The primary goal of the workshop was to provide students with a deep understanding of containerization using Docker technology. Docker is an open-source platform designed to automate the deployment, scaling, and management of applications inside lightweight containers. Mr. Gautham N. Shet and Ms. Chandana, Alumnus of SMVITM and working in Niveus Solution Limited Udupi were the resource persons for the workshop. The workshop was hands-on, allowing participants to engage directly with Docker tools and practices. Detailed insights were provided on Docker’s relevance in cloud computing and micro services architecture. The resource persons answered a wide range of questions, clarifying the practical challenges that students and professionals might face while using Docker. Real-world applications of Docker in industries like software development, cloud platforms, and automation were discussed. The workshop received positive feedback from attendees, many of whom expressed how valuable the hands-on experience was in understanding Docker. Participants appreciated the clarity with which complex concepts were explained, and the practical session was deemed particularly useful. The session was conducted from 11.00 AM to 1.00 PM at F103, Laboratory Complex of Workshop block. Mr. Raghavendra Hegde, Sr. Asst. Professor Department of CSE and Mr. Chandrashekhar Rao Kuthyar, Assistant Professor (SG) were present during the event. Ms. Kathyayini and Mr. Dhanush, student office bearers of ISTE were the student coordinators for the event. Ms. Natasha, student 6th semester CSE was the master of ceremony and delivered the vote of thanks.
