The Entrepreneurship Development Cell in association with the ISTE Student Chapter organized a technical trip for 6th and 8th Semester students of Civil Engineering Department to Dharmastala Sewage treatment plant and Neria Mini Hydel power plant 25 March 2017.
There were 48 students from 6th sem and 11 students from 8th sem along with 5 faculty members. First students were taken to vermicompost plant in Dharmastala where Supervisor Pradeep explained students how wastes are collected from various sources in Dharmastala and process of forming vermicompost without any use of chemicals. Later he explained benefit of recycling wastes for the sustainability of the environment. Next students visited Sewage treatment plant which is at walkable distance from vermicompost in which the students were given a detailed explanation of process of waste water treatment by Supervisor Mohan.
In the afternoon students visited Neria Mini Hydel Power station which is located at Nidle village Bhelthangady Taluk, Dakshina Kannada District. Er. Ganesh Shetty explained student’s various components of dam and its functions. Later students were taken inside the power plant where functioning of the actual power plant was briefed.
The students were very much benefited by this technical trip since students had a practical experience of actual Civil Engineering structures along with their theoretical background.
