Insightful Talk on Career Success by Mr. Renjit Keshav

 

The first invited talk of the academic year 2024–25 was delivered by Mr. Renjit Keshav, Managing Director of Insight Job Guru and CEO of iSkew Training Pvt. Ltd., Trivandrum. With 16 years of experience in industry and academic training, Mr. Keshav has dedicated his career to guiding students from school to corporate levels, helping them build a strong foundation for professional success. During his session, Mr. Keshav emphasized that curiosity is the most essential trait a student should develop, as it fosters creative thinking and continuous learning. He highlighted consistency, competence, and attitude as the key pillars of success. Additionally, he stressed the importance of grooming, explaining how appearance, personality, body language, and dressing play a crucial role in making a positive first impression. Addressing career readiness, he advised students to embrace marketing and sales roles rather than shy away from them, as these fields offer significant growth opportunities. He also shared valuable interview preparation strategies, including:

  • Strengthening quantitative aptitude
  • Building a strong and well-structured resume
  • Being active on LinkedIn
  • Staying updated with company news
  • Watching insightful videos from Think School and Barber Shop for corporate case studies

Mr. Keshav also recommended reading books like "Zero to One", understanding the value of time, effort, and money, and applying the STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Result) method to structure interview responses effectively. He urged students to explore the 12 rules of JordanPeterson, which provide essential life and career lessons. Through real-life examples and professional insights, Mr. Keshav inspired students to focus on preparation, self-improvement, and strategic career planning, ensuring they are well- equipped for future job opportunities. The session concluded with an engaging Q&A, leaving students motivated to enhance their skills and take a proactive approach to their careers.
