Intelligent Agricultural System
The final year students in the department of Electronics & Communication Engineering of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology & Management, Bantakal, have developed a system called “Intelligent Agricultural System” as part of their project work. The system was built by making use of PIC microcontroller and GSM mobile technology, in addition to other hardware. The system has high societal impact since it can be used to ensure faithful irrigation of farm land by monitoring the moisture level of the soil, sensing the atmospheric temperature, detecting voltage levels of AC & switching On/Off the water pump, and sending the messages automatically about all these activities to farmer’s mobile phone.
The system can be further improved by incorporating features such as video capture of crop position in the field and sending it to the famer, and linking to the nearest weather monitoring station to get prior knowledge about the weather conditions. The system was developed by Mr. Srinidhi, Ms. Shilpa Shetty, Ms. Shruthi Shetty and Ms. Nishwi Naik under the guidance of Mr. Arun Upadhyaya, Assistant Professor in E&C Engineering department of SMVITM Bantakal.
