The faculty and student’s chapters of ISTE,IIOT &Co-curricular club, in association with Sangam One connects services Ltd., Mangalore, organized an in-house project model exhibition-cum-competition on industrial Internet of Things (IIOT-2015) for the students of the institute at the institute premises on 15 august 2015. Eighteen teams exhibited their models and 14 teams participated in the poster making competition at the event.
The event was inaugurated by Prof. Sridhar Rao, Retd. Professor of Poorna Prajna College, Udupi.
In the valedictory program held in the afternoon, Prof. Dr. Radhakrishna S. Aital, Director, SMVITM presided over the function, Mr. Chandrashekhar Rao Kuthyar, Lead Consultant, Sangam One connected service Ltd., Managlore was the Chief guest on the occasion. Mr. K.V. Raghav Kamath, General Manager (IT), Corporation Bank, Mangaguru; Mr. Abdulla Khan, Mentor, Cascademic Solution, Bengaluru; Mr. Gopinath Nambiar, Assistant General Manager, Integrated Management Center and Prof. Dr. Thirumaleshwara Bhat, Principal, SMVITM gave away the prizes to the winners.
Addressing the students at the valedictory, Mr. Kuthyar appreciated their ideas and the models they made and emphasized the need for technology growth in the area of IIOT. He gave some real time examples with regard to IIOT. The guests and the jury members also addressed the gathering and expressed their appreciation for the ideas presented in the competition. They also appreciated inter-disciplinary teams formed by SMVITM students of different engineering disciplines.
In the intra-collegiate project model competition, 3 winning teams were identified and honored with a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 and certificates and another 6 shortlisted teams were award with a cash prize of Rs.5000 and certificates. The makers of three posters adjudged the best were awarded a cash prize of Rs. 1000 and certificates.
Dr. Ravindra H. J., Head, Department of Physics at SMVITM welcomed the gathering and Siju V. Soman, ISTE Coordinator presented a brief report of IIOT-2015. Mr. Rajesh Nayak, Assistant Professor, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering proposed vote of thanks.
