Scholarship Distribution, Release of college magazine and Cultural Program by SMVITM students: 31 October 2013

The SMVITM sponsored scholarship for meritorious students for the academic year 2013 – 14 were given away by H.H Shri Shri Viswavallabha Theertha Swamiji, President of Shri Sode Vadiraja Mutt Education Trust®, Udupi  & Chairman, SMVITM Governing Council at a special function organised at Rajangana, Udupi on the evening of 31 October 2013.

The merit scholarships sponsored by the Institute carry an amount of Rs. 10000 each, totaling Rs 1,00,000, to ten meritorious students. Five of them are given to SMVITM students who secure top ranks in the Common Entrance Test conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority and the remaining five to SMVITM students who score the highest percentage of marks at the Pre-university Examinations and with the lowest annual family income.

The release of the third edition of the college magazine AKSHARA also took place on the occasion. Swamiji released the magazine by handing over copies of the magazine to members of the editorial board. During his short speech of blessing, Swamiji emphasized the need to catering to the all round development of the students and expressed his happiness over the fact that SMVITM is taking many meaningful steps in this direction.

The function was followed by a mesmerizing cultural show put by SMVITM students who have won prizes at the different cultural fests organised by various technical institutions in the region. The show consisted of classical music concerts and different classical dance forms like Bharathnatyam, Kuchupudi and a few folk dances. The packed audience which consisted of the parents, members of the faculty and staff, students and the general public was enthralled by the mind boggling and exceptionally talented performances by the students.

The programme was attended by Shri. P. Shrinivasa Tantry and Shri. Ratnakumar President and Secretary of Shri Sode Vadiraja Mutt Education Trust, Udupi respectively and Prof. Dr. Radhakrishna S. Aithal, Principal of SMVITM.

 Mr. Vignesh Bhat, Ms. Manasa and Ms. Kavyashree, students of SMVITM anchored the program.
