Valedictory of the National Level Student Convention/Project Exhibition on Industrial Internet of Things (IIOT – v5)

The valedictory function of the National Level Student Convention/Project Exhibition on Industrial Internet of Things (IIOTv5) was held on 24 October, 2019 at Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology & Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, under the aegis of the Student Chapter of the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) and IEEE Student Branch.

Dr. Ananthanarayana V S, Deputy Director, NITK, Surathkal was the guest for the function. In his valedictory address he said that we are now marching into the smart era where IIoT plays an important role and machine learning or AI supports the intelligence for the interaction. He says that the curriculum should be oriented towards innovation, incubation and startups and encouraged the students. He concluded his speech saying, “Success is not an accident but an outcome of hard work, perseverance and learning, more importantly to love what we do”.

Shri Shri Vishwavallabha Theertha Swamiji presided over the function and distributed the prizes. The first place in the paper presentation was secured by Hariram M Shetty and team from Canara Engineering College for the paper titled “Smart ambulance with traffic control system using RFID and IoT”. The second place was secured by Vipul Kumar and team from Yenapoya Institute of Technology for “IoT based smart parking system using raspberry Pi”.

In the Project competition, the first place was bagged by Deepak Nayak, Ullas Kunder, Abhijith Serigara and Saurabh Shetty for “Smart Agriculture”. The second place was bagged by Ganpat Patel, Faheem Ahmed, Ashutosh Kumar and Raunak Chaudhary for “Smart Energy Meter”. The three consolation prize winners were Mohith and team for “Smart Mirror”, Chethan G Naik and team for “GPS based garbage vehicle tracking “, and Anantha Kumar Ramachandra and team for “Smart car”.

Prof. Dr. Thirumaleshwara Bhat congratulated the participants and gave a prelude to the decennial celebrations. The students who were part of ATL initiatives of the institute and the team of students who developed institute mobile app were felicitated during the function.

Dr. Ganesh Aithal, Vice Principal welcomed the gathering and Dr. Vasudeva, Convener proposed the vote of thanks. Ms. Akanksha, student coordinator gave a brief report of the event and announced the list of winners. The program started with the invocation by Ms. Vaishnavi V Katte and was compeered by Ms. Suraksha.
