Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology & Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, under the aegis of the Student Chapters of the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) and IEEE Student branch organized a National Level Student Convention/Project Exhibition on Industrial Internet of Things (IIOT – 2K19) at the institute premises on 24th October 2019. More than Fifty teams from various Engineering colleges across the state exhibited their project models in the event.
The Convention cum Exhibition was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Dr. C.P Ravikumar, Director, Technical Talent Development, Texas Instruments, Bengaluru. Dr. C.P Ravikumar began his speech with how the industry has changed over the years and that the semiconductor industry is constantly going through change and the change is constant. He further said that the IT industry went through three major waves where the first one was the personal computer followed by networking which paved way for wireless communication which resulted in the next big wave, the mobile phones. He then concluded his speech, stating that the next big wave for the upcoming generations would be IIoT.
Shri Rathnakumar in his presidential address spoke about how he is proud to be a part of the fifth IIoT student convention. He said that the marks contribute to only a small percentile to what makes an engineer and the rest is how one applies the knowledge that they have gained. He further stated that the exposure that the students gain here gives them the confidence and knowledge that can help them immensely in the future. He concluded by wishing that the event would be a grand success.

Prof. Dr. Thirumaleshwara Bhat, Principal welcomed the gathering. The event began with an invocation from Ms. Shreya Bhat, Final Year CSE. Ms. Rushali, IIoT Student Coordinator, Final Year ECE proposed the vote of thanks. The program was compeered by Mr. Trivikrama of Final CSE.
