Talk on “Free Open Source Software – Latex”

With the objective of helping the faculty of SMVITM in writing of research papers, a faculty development program on LaTeX by the spoken tutorial team was conducted in the CAED LAB on 16 July 2015. Prof. Dr. A. Ganesha, Dean-Academics and Dr. Vasudeva, HOD of CSE Dept. were present at the inaugural function. Mr. Chetan.R, Asst. Professor, ECE Dept. welcomed the dignitaries and participants. Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Thirumaleshwara Bhat, said that such initiatives would help research scholars to present their papers and thesis in the required format and such programs added on to quality of the institution as well as the individuals. Dr. Vasudeva, HOD of CSE Dept. was a resource person for this workshop. In the first session, he demonstrated how to generate papers for the conferences in a given format. In the second session, which was a hands-on session, he gave an exercise where the participants were asked to create a question paper in the given standard. Mr. Rama Moorthy H, CSE Dept., concluded the session by taking the feedback and also thanking the gathering. Heads of the various departments, and faculty participated actively and thereby benefited from the interactive sessions. Overall 65 participants from various disciplines, benefited with the ‘Learning by doing’ task and assignments. The spoken tutorial team of SMVITM consists of Mr. Rama Moorthy H., CSE Department, Mr. Chetan R, ECE Department, Mr. Sharth D Shetty, Mechanical Department, and Mr. Sharath Kumar, CSE Department.
