Conservation of water/Rally for Rivers

Eco club of SMVITM had organized an awareness talk on the topic “Conservation of Water” on 9October 2017 in the campus. The program was hosted by Ms. Lavanya of third semester CSE Dept, Ms. Shilpa of 5^thsem CSE Dept invoked the program by a prayer. Chief guests Ms. Geetha Kotian, Head Mistress of Anandateertha School and Mr. Sunil S Haldankar Assistant. Prof. Civil Dept, Megha Samaga and Ashish H Prabhu were present on the dais. Ms. Jyothi introduced the chief guest of the program.

Ms.Geetha S Kotian spoke about the importance of having a Rally for rivers. She gave an insight about the 3 R’s which each and every individual has to implement i.e. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. She also told the importance of a rain water harvesting and about the ways to conserve water such as using inexhaustible resources and also made us realize why the groundwater is getting exhausted. She had emphasized on various methods to conserve rivers. She requested the students to plant more tress along the river bank.

Assistant Prof. Sunil Haldankar spoke about River Rejuvenation and about the various uses of planting trees along the river banks. He gave knowledge about the various aims and goals of the Rally for Rivers i.e. for bringing down a policy creation for the adequate awareness called River Rejuvenation Policy Recommendation” in Delhi. He showed a video on the “Rally for Rivers “and requested the students to support “Rally for Rivers”.

The program was concluded by giving away the memento to the Chief Guest as a token of gratitude.
