Children’s Day and Girl Child Week Activity at CSI- Girls Boarding Home, Mulki.

With the strive for women empowered with good knowledge and skill sets, so as to lead an Independent life in the society. Team MAGIK and Community club of SMVITM- Bantakal had a one day program with the Kids of CSI-Girls Boarding Home, Mulki – Nov 1st 2014 on the occasion of Children’s Day and Girl Child Week.

As part of the activities, we had arranged for a workshop on Linux Libre Office Suite, provided by Spoken Tutorial Project Sponsored by IIT Bombay. We had arranged 9 Laptops, in that one system was playing the tutorial, and remaining systems were occupied by 2 students each. For each of the systems, three volunteers were helping the students learn the Office Suite in a better way and practice some examples sets. We completed Writer (word), in which students had to do work out all basic writing fonts, bullets and small official letter writing. In Impress (Presentation), we had made them create 4 to 5 slides having some information written on it, and slides were played later. In Calc (Excel), we made them work with cells, some simple tabulation and formulas (Sum, Count, AVG etc.,) were taken as practice sets.

Workshop started at around 9 Am and went till 12 PM in the noon. Members of the club, students of SMVITM-Bantakal and MITE- Mijar assisted for the smooth conduction of the workshop.

Medical Camp for the Kids was arranged, so that the kids can turn up to the Doctor and spend some time. The medical camp a successful one with the help of Dr. Yashwitha Anchan, young and energetic doctor, who is pursuing her M.D. Several kids had come up with their issues, and suitable medication was prescribed.
