The event “Talk on Women Health issues” by Dr. Jyothi R, Professor, Manipal College of Nursing, Manipal was organised by the Women Empowerment Cell of SMVITM on Monday, 29 April 2019 laid an insight on all the necessary health concerns related to females.
The session was divided into three main abstracts being Women’s health status across the globe, Adolescent Health issues and lastly ten top issues for women health. Some of the major concerned health issues like Anaemia, PCOD and Obesity were addressed and the needful solutions to overcome these were also effectively delivered to our students.
Problems related to menstrual cycle, sexually transmitted diseases, breast cancer, cervical cancer, reproductive health, mental and physical hygiene etc were the major area of discussion.
Violence against women and sexual harassment which are the major problems faced by the women in India were also addressed by the guest speaker. All the needful measures for being healthier and the phrase “Prevention is better than cure” was very well made aware among the students and the staffs who attended the session. Certain self-examine tests were also suggested by the speaker which is necessary in order to be cautious about the misshapen that might take place if ignored.
The students were made aware about the harmful effects of junk food, drugs, tobaccos etc. on their personal, mental as well as reproductive health status. The session was for all the interested female students and roughly 80 female students attended the session with sheer interest.
At the end, the students were given a platform to know and clear their doubts regarding the topics covered in the session and also the health related tips were given to the students by the guest speaker. The session marked success with students being contented with the information delivered.
