Talk on “6G: The next Frontier in Wireless Communication” on 30th August 2025

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, in collaboration with the ISTE Student Chapter and IEEE COMSOC, successfully organized a talk for fourth year ECE students on August 30 ,2025, at 11:15 a.m. The event was conducted in the Seminar Hall of the Admin Block, with Dr Prabhu K, Associate Professor, Department of ECE, NITK Surathkal, serving as the resource person.
The session commenced with a floral welcome to the guest by Mr. Arun Upadyaya, Head of Department, Electronics and Communication. The lecture began with an insightful perspective on how communication, much like elements of nature, is deeply interconnected and ever evolving. This was followed by a brief yet impactful overview of the history of wireless communication, setting the foundation for understanding present and future advancements. The speaker then introduced the emerging concept of 6G technology, emphasizing its potential to revolutionize connectivity through innovations such as movable base stations using drones. He further highlighted the vision of 6G as a fully integrated network that enables seamless communication across land, water, and air. The session also provided valuable insights into the cutting-edge research currently being undertaken at NITK Surathkal in this field.
