Student Mentoring Activity on “IoT Applications” at Madhava Kripa School, Manipal – 24 October 2025

As part of its community outreach initiative, the students of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, organized an ATL Connect Programme / Student Mentoring Activity at Madhava Kripa School, Manipal, on 24 October 2025.

The interactive session focused on “IoT Applications”, introducing school students to the fundamentals of electronics, sensors, and automation systems. Participants learned the basics of Arduino programming, including LED control and sensor-based automation, through engaging demonstrations conducted on TinkerCAD simulators. These hands-on activities enabled students to visualize and test real-time circuit designs, making complex concepts easy to grasp.

To make the session more engaging, basic coding logic and creative problem-solving exercises were included, encouraging curiosity and critical thinking among the participants. The event received an enthusiastic response, with students showing keen interest in understanding how everyday technology functions.

The session was coordinated by Mr. Raghavendra Hegde, Assistant Professor (Senior), Department of Computer Science and Engineering, SMVITM. The volunteers from the 7th Semester CSE Department — Deeksha Patkar, Akshatha Kamath, Deepthi Prabhu, Ananya, and Bhagyalakshmi — effectively simplified and demonstrated IoT concepts with clarity and enthusiasm.

The Head Master and faculty of Madhava Kripa School extended full cooperation for the smooth conduct of the program. Around 40 students from Class VI participated and benefitted from the session, which successfully sparked their interest in technology, innovation, and applied learning.

The activity exemplified SMVITM’s ongoing efforts to bridge the gap between academia and school-level education while nurturing a culture of curiosity, innovation, and mentorship among young learners.
