Student mentoring activity at SVK/SVS English medium High School, Katapadi

As part of its community outreach initiative, the students of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, organized an ATL Connect Programme / Student Mentoring Activity at SVK/SVS English Medium High School, Katapadi, on 23 October 2025.

The session focused on “IoT Applications”, introducing school students to the fundamentals of electronics, sensors, and automation systems. Participants gained hands-on exposure to Arduino programming, LED control, and sensor-based automation. Demonstrations using TinkerCAD simulators enabled the students to visualize and experiment with real-time circuit designs in an interactive digital environment.

To enhance engagement, the session also included basic coding logic exercises and creative problem-solving activities, ensuring that complex technical topics were presented in a simple and enjoyable manner. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation and positive feedback from both students and faculty members of the host school.

The volunteers from SMVITM — Alfiya Banu Mohammed Arif, Apporva Bhat, Ashmitha Kotian, Ananya, Gandeep Prabhu, and Gagan — effectively simplified and demonstrated technological concepts, bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world innovation.

The event was coordinated by Mr. Raghavendra Hegde, Assistant Professor (Senior), Department of Computer Science and Engineering, SMVITM. The Head Master, along with the teaching and non-teaching staff, extended full support to ensure the smooth conduct of the session.

Around 50 students from Classes VIII and IX actively participated and benefited from the program, gaining a practical understanding of how technology shapes everyday life.
