As a prelude to International Women’s Day, the Women Empowerment Cell of SMVITM organized an insightful guest talk on “Health and Wellbeing” on March 6, 2026.
The resource person for the session was Dr. Mamatha K.V., Principal of Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College of Ayurveda, Hospital and Research Centre, Udupi. The programme was graced by Dr. Radhakrishna Aital, CEO of Sode Group of Institutions, and Dr. Nagaraj Bhat, Principal of SMVITM.
In her address, Dr. Mamatha highlighted key concerns related to women’s health, with a special focus on PCOD. She explained how increasing expectations, responsibilities, and modern lifestyle patterns can disrupt the body’s natural balance. Using relatable real-life examples, she elaborated on lifestyle disorders, the risks associated with the indiscriminate use of medicines, and emphasized the principle: “Toxin + Stress = Disease.”
She further stressed the importance of adopting Ayurvedic practices and natural modes of living appropriate to different stages of a woman’s life—from adolescence to later years. She also cautioned against the excessive use of chemical-based cosmetics and their long-term impact on health.
The session concluded with a strong message on nurturing the health of future generations through natural and balanced living, thereby ensuring a healthier and more vibrant society. The programme served as an informative and empowering platform, aligning well with the spirit of women’s empowerment.
The event was coordinated by Ms. Megha Rani R., WEC Coordinator, along with the Women Empowerment Cell team of SMVITM.
