REPORT OF ORIENTATION PROGRAM ON LEAD.

NSS/YRC Unit of SMVITM organized an orientation program on “LEAD-A comprehensive Leadership program” for the benefit of all students of SMVITM ON Saturday, 14 March 2015 in the institute premises.LEAD program is an initiative by the Deshpande Foundation Hubli.Mr.Chetan Upadhyaya and Mr.Kiran of LEAD program were the resource persons.

In the orientation program, they briefed about the importance of LEAD program. They told LEAD Program was started by Deshpande Foundation that focuses on youth leadership, fosters social entrepreneurship and innovation among college students. This is done by exposing students to social issues and encouraging them to put their time and effort into community development. LEAD teaches youth to consider themselves as an active part of their environment and society on the whole, by raising civil awareness and commitment to public service. LEAD hosts an annual leadership journey called “LEAD Prayana” and a leadership conference “Yuva Summit” which involves college youth and faculties. It is a platform to share, network, learn from each other and invited speakers.

Ms.Sumana Shenoy member of LEAD program welcomed everyone.(Dr.) Nagaraja Rao, NSS Coordinator of SMVITM proposed vote of thanks.Mr.Narayana Nayak, Dept.of ME, Ms.Devika Lakshmeesha, President, NSS-YRC and Ransan Joy Mathias, Secretary, NSS-YRC and many more NSS-YRC volunteers were present during the programme and got benefitted.
