Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara (SDM) College of Ayurveda, Hospital & Research Centre, Udyavar, Udupi, on 15 December 2025, to foster interdisciplinary collaboration between engineering and traditional Indian healthcare systems.
The MoU aims to strengthen cooperation in the areas of technology-enabled healthcare solutions, software and application development, artificial intelligence, data analytics, collaborative research, academic exchange, internships, and community health initiatives. This partnership seeks to integrate modern engineering expertise with Ayurvedic clinical knowledge to address contemporary healthcare challenges.
Through this collaboration, SMVITM students will gain hands-on exposure to real-world healthcare IT projects, while faculty and students of SDM College of Ayurveda will benefit from training in digital tools, data management, and technology-based healthcare systems. The agreement also includes provisions for joint research projects, workshops, seminars, wellness programs, health check-up camps, and outreach activities, benefiting both institutions and the wider community.
The MoU signing ceremony was held at the SDM College of Ayurveda campus in the presence of dignitaries from both institutions. Representing SMVITM were Dr. Nagaraj Bhat, Principal; Dr. Sachin Bhat, Dean (R&D and Consultancy); Ms. Mahadevi, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering; and Dr. Radhakrishna S. Aithal, CEO, SODE Group of Institutions, along with other officials including Mr. Ramdas, Office Manager, and Mr. Suresh Kotian, Public Relations Officer. From SDM College of Ayurveda, Dr. Mamatha K. V., Principal; Dr. S. R. Moharer, Head, Department of Physiology; and Dr. Ravi Bhat, Assistant Professor, Department of Physiology, were present.
This collaboration marks a significant step toward integrating engineering innovation with traditional healthcare practices, creating opportunities for impactful research, student learning, and community-oriented healthcare solutions.
