Invited Talk on “Skill Development and Profile Building” | 11 November 2025

The Women Empowerment Cell (WEC), IEEE Student Branch, and Women in Engineering (WIE) of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, jointly organised an invited talk on “Skill Development and Profile Building” on 11 November 2025. The session was delivered by Dr. Ashwini Appaji M., Vice Chair, WIE India Council, who highlighted the importance of building a strong profile to showcase expertise and create better opportunities. She explained the role of both soft skills such as self-confidence and trustworthiness, and hard skills required for career growth. The talk also covered steps for skill development, tips for preparing a professional résumé (concise, clean, and well-structured), and effective networking strategies. Using real-life examples, she encouraged participants to engage in practical projects and internships to strengthen their profiles. The event was coordinated by Dr. Nagaraj Rao, In-charge Head and Associate Professor, Department of AI & DS, Coordinator – IEEE & WIE, who appreciated the speaker’s valuable insights. The programme was also coordinated by Ms. Megha Rani, Assistant Professor (Senior), Department of AI & ML, and Coordinator, WEC.
