Interactive session with Dr. G. Diwakar Parsi from ISRO

Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management in association with ISTE Student Chapter organized An interaction session on “Space Technology and its Applications” by Dr.Divakar P G, Scientific Secretary, ISRO, Bengaluru, on 14 March 2019 at Seminar Hall, Admin Block for the benefit of the students and faculty of SMVITM.

Addressing the students Dr. G. Diwakar Parsi, gave an overview of ISRO and major projects they took up over the past four decades in space research. He gave an insight of various satellite launch vehicles and briefed the audience regarding ongoing projects and umpteen numbers of new initiatives taken by ISRO in space research. He stated on how each one of us are connected to space in one or the other way through communication satellites placed by ISRO. He also brought the role played by ISRO navigation and remote sensing satellites in applications such as geo-fencing, geo-tagging, identifying fish catchment areas, crop management, forest fire detection, mapping water bodies etc. He also highlighted the innovative technologies adapted in the successful conduction of their milestone projects Chandrayana – I and Mangalayana – I. Finally, he touched upon the various industry-academia partnerships of ISRO and gave a call to students and faculty to take an active participation in the research as well as technological initiatives of ISRO. He assured full cooperation in building tie up between ISRO and SMVITM.

Dr. Vasudeva Head Computer Science Department welcomed and introduced the guest to the gathering. Mr. Venugopal Rao A. S. compeered the program and proposed the vote of thanks. Prof. Dr. Thirumaleshwara Bhat, Principal, SMVITM, HoDs and faculty members of all the branches of engineering were present during the session.
