The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, SMVITM, in association with IEEE CEDA, organized a guest talk titled “Device to Design: Transistor to Circuit” on 02 March 2026 at the Seminar Hall, Admin Block. The session was delivered by Ms. Rajeela Deshpande, Associate Director, Samsung Semiconductor India Research, Bengaluru, for VI Semester EC students.
The talk introduced students to IEEE CEDA, highlighting its role, benefits, and opportunities for students in the field of Electronic Design Automation. The session also explored the evolution of semiconductor devices from vacuum tubes to modern architectures such as FinFETs and Nanosheet FETs, while explaining key concepts like MOSFET operation, Moore’s Law, and device scaling.
The resource person effectively connected device-level concepts to circuit-level implementation, emphasizing the importance of standard cell libraries in digital and VLSI system design. Around 100 students attended the session and gained valuable insights into modern semiconductor technologies and industry trends. The program concluded with the presentation of a memento and letter of appreciation as a token of gratitude
