Graduation Day – 2018

Graduation Ceremony for the fifth outgoing batch was held at Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management, Bantakal, Udupi, on Saturday, 03 November 2018.

Mr Jayant Nadiger, Trade and Investment Commissioner, Govt. of Flanders, Belgium was the chief guest and delivered graduation address. He spoke on the technological complexities, ever changing scenarios of present world, global challenges etc. He gave an insight on how to handle such situations and how to adapt to different ecosystems, diversified cultural environments and market fluctuations. Continuing, he emphasized on developing more of life skills on top of bookish knowledge to sustain and survive in the era of Contextual Intelligence. Get out of comfort zone, keep doing innovations and celebrate failure too, he concluded.

Shri Vishwavallabha Teertha Swamiji of Sode Vadiraja Mata handed over the gold medals for the branch toppers. Ramesh Karanth of Civil Engineering department, Prajna nayak of Computer Science and Engineering, Nidhi P. Shetty of Electronics and Communications Engineering and Satwik of Mechanical Engineering won gold medals for their splendid academic performance.

The guest of honor Mr. N H Kantanavar, Chief Operating Officer, Ashoka Buildcon Ltd., said, Saint Vadiraja Acharya himself is a synonym for knowledge and urged students to scale up their knowledge by opting for higher studies and exploit opportunities since there are less learned men in foreign countries. Continuing, Mr. Kanthanavar said, India has earned eight Nobel Prizes to its credit and China has none yet, but unfortunately we are bound to outsource 80% of the software required for projects on smart cities, IOT etc. He praised Shri Vishwavallabha Theertha Swamiji for his vision to impart education to masses and urged students to work on projects like smart city, IOT etc. to have a bright future.

Principal Dr. Thirumaleshwara Bhat said to shed off laziness, to read more and more books, to learn new technologies and to be up to date so as to taste success in life.  Later, he administered the Oath for the fifth outgoing batch of graduates.

In his presidential address, Shri Vishwavallabha Teertha Swamiji said everything well begun is half done, do your duty by giving your heart and soul, life is a phenomenon of continuous learning, don’t let anything go off without a sincere try, be good and be useful to the society. He gave many instances in his discourse to motivate the student community gathered which attracted their attention a lot towards education and academics. Continuing, he briefed up about the mission of the institution in near future and told about the tie-ups that are going to happen with leading industries which may enhance and boost up the activities of campus placements a lot.

Shri P Shrinivas Tantry, Vice President of SSVMET was present on the dais. HoDs of engineering branches presented the graduates list. Prof. Ravindra H J, HoD of Physics announced the names of branch toppers. Ms. Shinny Melita D’Souza and Ms. Shareen Noronha introduced the guest.

Shri. Ratnakumar, secretary, SSVMET, Udupi welcomed the gathering. Dr. Lolita Priya Castelino, HOD of Mathematics delivered vote of thanks and Mr. Venugopala Rao and Mrs. Laxmi Shetty compeered the program.
