Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, successfully organized a mega blood donation drive on 25 March 2026, that witnessed an overwhelming response, collecting more than 140 units of blood. The initiative was conducted by the NSS-YRC Unit of the institute in collaboration with the KMC Blood Centre, Manipal.
The drive was inaugurated by Dr. Ganesh Mohan, Professor & Head, Department of IHBT, KMC, Kasturba Hospital Blood Centre, Manipal, who attended as the Chief Guest. In his address, he emphasized the life-saving impact of voluntary blood donation and appreciated the institute’s continued commitment to humanitarian service.
The event was presided over by Dr. Radhakrishna Aithal, who commended the enthusiasm and selfless participation of students. He noted that such initiatives reflect the institution’s strong dedication to social responsibility.
Also present on the occasion were Dr. Sudharshan Rao, Dean Academics, Sachin Prabhu, NSS Coordinator, along with NSS volunteers.
The drive recorded around 230 registrations from willing donors. Following thorough medical screening, over 140 participants successfully donated blood, making a significant contribution to the region’s blood reserves.
This initiative not only addressed a critical healthcare need but also helped raise awareness among students about the importance of regular voluntary blood donation.
