ACM Chapter Begins Its Journey – Inauguration & Installation Ceremony on 3rd December 2025

The ACM Student Chapter of SMVITM, Bantakal, organized a vibrant celebration of the inauguration of the SMVITM ACM Student Chapter and the Installation of the Office Bearers for the academic year 2025-26. The event was held at the institute premises on December 03, 2025,
in the seminar Hall of the Admin block. The program commenced with a traditional lamp lighting ceremony, graced by the Chief Guest, Dr. Srikanth Prabhu, Professor and ACM Faculty Sponsor from MIT, Manipal. Dr. Nagaraj Bhat, Principal, SMVITM, was the Guest of Honor for the event, and it was presided over by Dr. Radhakrishna S Aithal, CEO, SODE group of Institutions. The program began with a welcome address by Dr. Bharti Panjwani, ACM Coordinator, SMVITM, that highlighted the purpose and importance of the ACM Society in promoting student growth and technical excellence. The inaugural rituals included the digital launch of the ACM Student Chapter. The newly selected office bearers received their badges, and the Chief Guest administered the oath, officially marking the beginning of their tenure. A group photo was taken to commemorate the moment. The session continued with inspiring messages from the principal to the students. The CEO delivered the presidential address, highlighting the achievements of SMVITM and marking the start of a new journey through international networking with technical societies such as ACM, IEEE, and ASME. He emphasized the core values of SMVITM in providing holistic education that empowers the overall growth of the students. The Keynote address by the chief guest, Dr Srikanth Prabhu, urged the students to adopt qualities such as honesty and integrity as guiding principles in their personal and professional lives. He encouraged them to focus on learning engineering rather than merely studying it emphasizing the importance of deep understanding over rote learning. Additionally, he emphasized the role of ACM in leveraging technical knowledge for the betterment of society. Concluding his speech, he advised the ACM members to channel their collective efforts to achieve success and, in today’s fiercely competitive world, strive to exceed expectations and seize every opportunity. The ceremony was attended by the Heads of Departments, faculty members, and students from various branches, making it a memorable and inspiring occasion for all. The ceremony was formally concluded with a vote of thanks from Ms. Gagana Nayak, ACM Student Council Chair.
