A talk on Conservation of Water

The National Service Scheme (NSS), Youth Red Cross (YRC) and Rotaract Club of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, jointly organized a talk on “Conservation of Water” on 9 October, 2017 in the institute premises.

Mrs. Geetha Kotian, Principal of Anandathirtha Vidyalaya, was the resource person for the occasion.  She spoke about the importance of having a Rally for rivers. She gave an insight about the 3 R’s which each and every individual has to implement i.e. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. She also highlighted the importance of rain water harvesting and the ways to conserve water.

Mr Sunil S Haldankar, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, SMVITM, Bantakal spoke about River Rejuvenation and the various uses of planting trees along river banks. He also shared information about the various aims and goals of the Rally for Rivers drive, primarily to promote adequate awareness about a policy named as the River Rejuvenation Policy Recommendation to be presented to the central government at Delhi.

Mr. Narayan Nayak, Departmental NSS/YRC/RC Coordinator and other departmental coordinators, Heads and a few interested faculty members from various departments, Megha Samaga and Ashish H Prabhu, Vice Presidents of RC and NSS respectively and all the office bearers of NSS/YRC and RC were present on the occasion.

The program commenced with the invocation by Ms Shilpa and Ms Jyothi presented a brief introduction of chief guest. The Program was compered by Ms Lavanya.
