Visit to Additive Manufacturing Lab at MIT, Manipal | 22 November 2025

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, in association with the Industry Institute Interaction Cell (IIIC) and the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), organized an educational visit to the Additive Manufacturing Lab, MIT Manipal on 22 November 2025 at 2:00 PM. During the visit, the lab team demonstrated the working principles of various 3D printers, CAD–CAM workflow, material selection, slicing techniques, and post-processing steps. Students witnessed live printing demonstrations and observed ongoing research projects in rapid prototyping and product development. The visit strengthened students’ understanding of the role of additive manufacturing in modern engineering and helped them appreciate its applications in automotive, biomedical, aerospace, and tooling industries. Overall, the visit provided valuable hands-on exposure, enhanced conceptual clarity, and motivated students to explore advanced manufacturing technologies in academics and future projects.
