SMVITM is proud to be accredited by NAAC, have multiple programs accredited by NBA, and be recognized as the youngest engineering institution to attain Autonomous Status under VTU. Profile:

Dr. Nagaraj Bhat serves as the Principal and Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management, Bantakal. With a strong academic foundation in Weather Informatics, Remote Sensing, and GIS Applications, he brings a unique blend of research excellence, academic leadership, and societal commitment.

He holds a Ph.D. in Weather Informatics, an M.Tech in Geoinformatics, and a B.E. in Computer Science and Engineering. His professional journey includes national and international research exposure as a Visiting Scientist at the University of Alabama, USA, and as a Project Scientist at CSIR–4PI, National Aerospace Laboratories. He has also served as Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at SMVITM.

Dr. Nagaraj Bhat has received several prestigious recognitions including the ISRO CHAMPION Award, the WMO/WCRP Young Scientist Travel Grant, and the Best Paper Award from ISRS. He has successfully secured funded research projects from VGST and VTU.

His core areas of expertise include climate data analytics, integration of Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) models with GIS, and application of deep learning techniques for interdisciplinary research. He has contributed to research papers, patents, and technical articles, and continues to actively guide research and innovation.
