Varnothsava 2026 Concludes with Grand Valedictory Ceremony on 12 March 2026

The valedictory ceremony of Varnothsava 2026, a national-level intercollegiate techno-cultural fest, was held on 12 March 2026 at Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM), Bantakal. Around 550 students from various institutions across the nation participated in the wide range of technical, cultural, and business events conducted as part of the fest.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Rathnakumar, Secretary, SSVMET, Udupi, emphasized the importance of technical innovation in solving everyday problems and reducing India’s dependence on foreign resources. He encouraged young engineers to convert their ideas into practical solutions and contribute towards building an Atmanirbhar India.

The ceremony was presided over by His Holiness Shri Vishwavallabha Theertha Swamiji, President, SSVMET, Udupi. In his address, Swamiji highlighted that learning must remain a continuous process, especially in the rapidly evolving era of Artificial Intelligence. Drawing an analogy to a coconut tree bending towards sunlight, he advised students to constantly seek opportunities and adapt in order to nurture their talents. He also reminded participants that taking part itself is a significant achievement and wished them success in their future endeavors.

During the ceremony, Ms. Priya Shaila P. Rao, wife of Mr. Prabhav N. Rao, Managing Director of Leapfrog Engineering Services Ltd., Bengaluru, was felicitated by Poojya Swamiji in recognition of Leapfrog Engineering Services Ltd. being the Platinum Sponsor of the Technical Carnival.

The dignitaries present on the dais included Shri P. Srinivas Tantry, Vice President, SSVMET, Udupi, Dr. Radhakrishna S. Aithal, CEO, Sode Group of Institutions, Shri Rathnakumar, Secretary, SSVMET, Dr. Nagaraj Bhat, Principal, SMVITM, and Dr. Renita Sharon Monis, Technical Coordinator.

The programme began with Dr. Nagaraj Bhat, Principal, SMVITM, welcoming the gathering. Dr. Renita Sharon Monis, Department of Mathematics, presented a brief report on the events of Varnothsava 2026. Mr. Raghavendra G. S., Assistant Professor (Sr.), Department of Computer Science and Engineering, announced the winners of the technical, cultural, and business carnival events.

Jawaharlal Nehru New College of Engineering, Shivamogga won the Overall Championship of Varnothsava 2026, while Mangalore Institute of Technology and Engineering, Moodbidri secured the runners-up position.

For the first time in the history of Varnothsava, two special titles were introduced:

Technical Carnival Championship – won by St. Joseph Engineering College, Mangalore

Cultural Carnival Championship – won by NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte

The Technical Carnival was sponsored by Leapfrog Engineering Services Limited, Bengaluru, while the Cultural Carnival was sponsored by Bhima Jewellers Private Limited, Udupi, the Platinum Sponsors of Varnothsava 2026.

Ms. Aurin Madtha, Assistant Professor, MBA, proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was compered by Ms. Deepa D. Prabhu (3rd Year CSE) and Mr. Herschel Dmello (3rd Year AIML).

Adding a vibrant cultural touch to the celebration, the institute’s Yakshasinchana Team presented an energetic Yakshagana performance, bringing the fest to a memorable and colorful conclusion.
