Session on “Computer Skills and E-Resource Management” Conducted for Ayurveda PG Students

Deepak Rao M, Senior Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, conducted a one-day session on “Computer Skills and E-Resource Management” for postgraduate students of Muniyal Institute of Ayurveda Medical Sciences on 11 February 2026 at their campus in Manipal.

The session aimed to enhance the digital competencies of postgraduate students by providing practical exposure to various computer applications useful for academic learning, research documentation, and resource management. The session began with an introduction to basic computer operations and digital tools, followed by a detailed explanation of advanced features of Microsoft Office to simplify tasks such as report writing, documentation, formatting, and presentation preparation.

The resource person also introduced language enhancement and editing tools such as Grammarly, highlighting how such platforms help improve grammar, clarity, and academic writing quality. In the afternoon session, hands-on demonstrations were conducted where students learned how to effectively use AI tools like ChatGPT and Gemini to support research work, literature reviews, and academic publications.

The program also included an informative segment on cyber safety practices, focusing on secure internet usage, protection of personal data, and precautions while accessing public Wi-Fi networks. The session concluded with an overview of the Information Technology Act 2000, creating awareness among students about cyber laws and responsible digital behavior.

Around 25 postgraduate students actively participated in the session. The program was coordinated by Dinesh Nayak, and the participants appreciated the session for providing practical insights into using digital tools for academic and research purposes.
