Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, organised “AVISHKAR 2K25 – A Science Fest for Young Minds” on 15 November 2025, envisioned as a platform to ignite curiosity, encourage experimentation, and promote interdisciplinary learning among young minds.
The fest featured exhibitions, competitions, and interactive sessions aimed at engaging students in hands-on scientific exploration. Shri Prateek Bayal, I.A.S., Chief Executive Officer, Zilla Panchayat, Udupi, inaugurated the fest as Chief Guest and, in his address, emphasised the role of science and technology in shaping the future while appreciating SMVITM’s efforts in nurturing young scientific minds.
The Guest of Honour Shri K. Jagadish Navada, Principal, Viveka Pre-University College, Kota, Udupi, highlighted the importance of inter-institutional collaboration and the need to foster scientific temperament among students. The programme was also graced by Dr. Uday Shetty, Chief Planning Officer, Zilla Panchayat, Udupi, and Shri Vijay Kumar, K.A.S., Project Director, Zilla Panchayat, Udupi, who conveyed their best wishes and noted the importance of such initiatives in shaping future generations. The event was presided over by Shri Rathnakumar, Secretary, Shri Sode Vadiraja Mutt Education Trust, Udupi, who encouraged young minds to make the best use of such platforms to enrich their knowledge.
The fest witnessed enthusiastic participation of around 500 students and a large number of faculty members from various institutions. The programme commenced with an invocation prayer by Ms. Vindhya, followed by a welcome address by Dr. Nagaraj Bhat, In-charge Principal and Dean Academics. The event was compered by Ms. Deepa D. Prabhu and Ms. Chirashree, and concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Subbulakshmi N. Karanth, Head of the Chemistry Department and Convenor of AVISHKAR 2K25, acknowledging the support of all dignitaries, resource persons, organisers, and participants.
