MindSpark-AI: SMVITM ACM Student Chapter’s First Technical Event

The ACM Student Chapter of SMVITM, Bantakal successfully organized its inaugural technical competition, “MindSpark-AI: Igniting CS Curiosity,” on 12 December 2025, as part of ACM-CS Education Week, under the Hour of AI initiative.

The event aimed to encourage students to creatively apply Artificial Intelligence tools to simplify and explain core Computer Science concepts such as artificial neural networks, cloud computing, functions, inheritance, binary numbers, algorithms, and data structures. Participants leveraged AI-based video editing, animation, and content-generation tools to present technical ideas through short videos, animated explanations, game demonstrations, and real-life analogies.

A total of 25 teams from various academic years actively participated. Students showcased impressive creativity by presenting CS concepts using engaging narratives involving robots, superheroes, and everyday scenarios, thereby enhancing conceptual clarity and audience engagement. The event successfully demystified AI tools and inspired participants to explore their potential for positive and meaningful applications.

The competition was conducted at the Workshop Lab and evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges comprising Dr. Bharti Panjwani, Ms. Ashwini, Mr. Nagendra, and two other experts. The evaluation criteria included clarity of concepts, creativity, effective use of AI tools, presentation quality, and overall impact. The judges appreciated the innovative approaches adopted by the students and commended their efforts in simplifying complex technical ideas.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation and active interaction, making it both informative and engaging. It provided an excellent platform for students to enhance their technical understanding, creativity, communication skills, and hands-on exposure to AI-based tools.

Overall, MindSpark-AI: Igniting CS Curiosity was successfully conducted and achieved its intended objectives. The event significantly contributed to fostering interest in Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science, marking a memorable and impactful initiative by the SMVITM ACM Student Chapter in celebration of the ACM Hour of AI.
