CodeChef – Empowering SMVITM Students with Industry-Relevant Coding Skills

We actively integrate CodeChef, a globally recognized platform for competitive programming and computer science education, into our student training and skill development ecosystem. Our collaboration with CodeChef ensures that students gain practical, industry-relevant technical skills that go beyond classroom theory.

During the academic year, our students undergo structured training and evaluations through the CodeChef for Institutions initiative, making them better prepared for coding interviews, internships, and tech roles.

Key Initiatives at SMVITM:

• CodeChef Labs: Semester-wise, customized practical labs are implemented across various branches. These labs offer hands-on coding experience, aligned with university assessments and real-world problem-solving.
• Technical Assessments & Examinations: Regular online exams are conducted through CodeChef’s platform in core subjects such as:
  • Programming Fundamentals
  • Data Structures & Algorithms
  • SQL
  • Web Development

  These assessments help track student progress and identify areas for improvement.

• Placement-Focused Skill Building: With a strong emphasis on Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA), our students engage in curated practice sets, mock contests, and coding challenges that simulate real-world placement tests. This ensures they are well-prepared for technical interviews at top companies.

In the academic year 2024-25, 454 students from various branches were trained by CodeChef.
