A 3-day workshop on “Atal Tinkering Lab initiatives” was inaugurated at Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management, Bantakal on 13 June, 2019. Dr. Arun M. Isloor, Professor and Head, Department of Chemistry, National Institute of Technology Karnataka Surathkal was the chief guest. In his inaugural address he explained the objective of setting Atal tinkering Labs in selected High Schools and PU Colleges by Government of India under Atal innovation Program of NITI Ayog. He told that curiosity, creativity and imagination are the essence of innovation. Dr. Thirumaleshwara Bhat presided over the function. In his presidential address he explained how SMVITM is discharging its social responsibility through programs like ATL mentoring. Dr. Vasudeva, HoD of Computer Science and Engineering welcomed the gathering. Ms. Sowmya S, Assistant Professor of CSE department, compeered the program. Mr. Rama Moorthy H, assistant Professor, Department of CSE and Mr. Avinash N J, Assistant Professor, Department of ECE coordinated the program. About 45 students and teachers of different schools and P U Colleges participated in the workshop.

The workshop was concluded on 15 June, 2019. Mr. Atul Udupi, Senior Adviser, Bibox Ltd. Bengaluru was the chief guest. In his address he opined that the little kids have great potential and are fast in knowing and doing new things. ATLs create platform to students think and do new inventions. Mr. Sandesh J Kundar, Senior Engineer, Aspect Technologies, Bengaluru congratulated the institute for associating with ATLs. Shri. Rathnakumar, Secretary, SSMVET, Udupi presided over the function. In his presidential address he told that the initiative of the central government started in the name of former prime minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee is right tribute to the great statesman of the country. Dr. Thirumaleshwara Bhat, Principal welcomed the gathering and Dr. Vasudeva, HoD of Computer Science and Engineering proposed the vote of thanks. Mr. Avinash N J gave a brief report of the workshop.
