Awareness program on Self-defense and craft training

Women Empowerment Cell of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management organized an awareness program on Self-defense and craft training for the benefit of parents and students of Govt. School Parappadi in the school premises on 28^th January 2017 at 10:00AM. Ms. Mamatha, 3^rd year student of ECE Dept, SMVITM and Ms. Vidya Acharya, Office Assistant, Dept. of Mathematics, SMVITM were the resource persons.

The program started with the welcome note by the School HM Poornima. The program was organized as people in the area were facing the problem of robbery, child kidnaps, lack of skill development etc. Ms. Mamatha gave the information about the gathering importance of the Self-defence to handle the problem of child kidnaps and robbery. She illustrated simple techniques to manage such scenarios of attack and told the importance of being alert.

The second session was conducted by Ms. Vidya. She demonstrated jewellery making and bag making procedures. Primary children and parents were enthusiastic throughout the session. She also told that art involves an unstructured activity where we can explore and create anything with imaginations. The session was concluded by HM, she thanked the team headed by Dr. Lolita Priya Castelino as the program was great help for the parents as well as for the school kids. After the session, parents shared their views and their happiness about the program.
