Teachers’ Day Celebrated at S.V.H. Pre-University College, Innanje

Innanje: Education becomes truly meaningful when students receive value-based education through a student-centred approach. Teachers dedicate their lives to the academic and overall development of students, and their efforts become meaningful when students grow into responsible citizens and valuable assets to society. The role of parents in shaping the future of students is equally significant, said Dr. Radhakrishna S. Aithal, Chief Executive Officer of Sode Group of Educational Institutions, Udupi.

He was speaking at the Teachers’ Day celebration held at Dasabhavana of S.V.H. Pre-University College, Innanje.

Retired teacher Mr. Prabhakara Bhat, speaking on the occasion, said that the teacher-student relationship is one of the most valuable bonds in education. When this relationship becomes strong, students get the confidence and encouragement necessary for their talents to flourish. He urged students to overcome hesitation, make full use of opportunities to showcase their talents, and develop their overall personality.

While felicitating the retired teacher, College Principal Mr. Rajendra Prabhu said that opportunities are available all around us, and success lies in recognising and making proper use of them. Student life becomes meaningful when students make the best use of the opportunities available to them. Poverty should never be considered a barrier to achievement, as progress ultimately depends on one's own determination and efforts. He called upon students to devote themselves wholeheartedly to their studies.

On the occasion, all the lecturers of the college were felicitated in recognition of their contribution to the education and development of students.

The programme was compered by Kumari Yashmitha and Kumari Sameeksha.

Success Is Possible When We Move Forward with a Single Goal and Determination: Gurme Suresh Shetty

Innanje: Life is extremely precious. In life, winning or losing is not what matters most; what matters is the way we strive to achieve something meaningful. Poverty can never be a barrier to achievement. Success is possible when we set a clear goal and make continuous efforts with complete focus and determination, said Gurme Suresh Shetty, MLA of the Kaup Assembly Constituency.

He was speaking after inaugurating the Kaup Taluk-level Throwball Tournament for Pre-University Boys and Girls, held at S.V.H. Pre-University College, Innanje.

He said that we have made significant progress in the field of education. However, at the same time, it is unfortunate that many students are increasingly becoming victims of substance abuse. Students must remain alert and stay away from such harmful habits. By doing so, they can lead a meaningful and fulfilling life, he added.

Presiding over the programme, Dr. Radhakrishna S. Aithal, Chief Executive Officer of Sode Group of Educational Institutions, said that a strong mind is essential for maintaining good health. Sports play a very important role in developing a strong and healthy mind. He emphasized that sports contribute significantly to the overall development of students.

Former student of the institution Uday G., former president of Innanje Gram Panchayat Malini Shetty, Head of the Kannada Medium High School Nataraj Upadhyaya, Physical Education teachers Naveen Shetty and Ravi were present on the occasion.

College Principal Sri Rajendra Prabhu welcomed the gathering. Mrs. Anita Mathias proposed the vote of thanks. Chemistry lecturer Mrs. Raviprabha compered the programme.

Innanje - A Place of Heritage and Learning

Innanje is a village located about 15 km from Udupi. Tradition says this is the sacred place where the Almighty once partook of the choicest food, thus the name “Undaru.” The village is also honored with the title Bhuktipura Vishwendranagara.

During the British rule, when Dakshina Kannada was part of the Madras Province, very few dared to establish schools in rural areas. On 17 January 1943, Innanje hosted the first Scout Rally of the district. Captivated by the natural beauty of the place, education officers from the Madras government felt inspired to set up a school here. Encouraged by their vision, local leaders, youth, and residents joined hands.

With the support of people from Innanje and surrounding areas, Sanivasa Vidya Mandir was established on 4 June 1943. The institution holds the distinction of being the first residential school in a rural area among the 18 high schools in Dakshina Kannada at that time.

Today, the school flourishes under the blessings of Shri Shri Vishwavallabha Theertha Swamiji and the efficient management of a committed and capable teaching staff.
