Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, celebrated Engineers\u2019 Day 2026 on 16 September 2026, commemorating the 165th birth anniversary of Sir M. Visvesvaraya, one of India\u2019s most eminent engineers and statesmen. The celebration highlighted the vital role of engineers in nation-building and encouraged students to embrace innovation, professional excellence, ethical responsibility, and lifelong learning.<\/p>\n
The programme was graced by Dr. P. Subbanna Bhat, Former Professor, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, NITK Surathkal, as the Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Bhat emphasized the importance of strong engineering fundamentals, innovation, ethical responsibility, and the role of engineers in addressing emerging societal challenges. His inspiring address encouraged students to continuously upgrade their knowledge and contribute meaningfully to technological advancement.<\/p>\n
As part of the programme, Dr. Bhat also delivered a special lecture on \u201cScientific Heritage of Bharath\u201d, engaging faculty members, staff, and students with insights into India\u2019s rich scientific and technological contributions.<\/p>\n
In his presidential remarks, Shri H. V. Gowthama highlighted the significance of Engineers\u2019 Day and the enduring legacy of Sir M. Visvesvaraya. He urged students to make effective use of their engineering education and develop into responsible professionals who can contribute to the progress and development of the nation.<\/p>\n
A key highlight of the celebration was the Installation Ceremony of the IEEE Student Branch Office Bearers. The newly appointed office bearers were formally inducted into their respective positions, marking the commencement of their tenure. The ceremony reaffirmed SMVITM\u2019s commitment to fostering technical excellence, professional development, innovation, leadership, and community engagement among students through IEEE activities.<\/p>\n
Shri Rathnakumar, Secretary, SSVMET, Udupi; Dr. Radhakrishna S. Aithal, CEO, SODE Group of Institutions; and Dr. Nagaraj Bhat, Principal, SMVITM, Bantakal, were present on the occasion.<\/p>\n
