For the benefit of faculty members and students of professional colleges, the department of Mechanical Engineering of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management had organized a webinar on \u201cHow to write scientific paper\u201d on Friday, 29 May 2020. Dr. Sudarshan Rao K, Professor and Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering, SMVITM, Bantakal, was the resource person.<\/p>\n

In the session, Dr. Sudarshan Rao K, emphasized on what a scientific paper is, purpose of writing a paper, where a paper to be published and how a paper to be written. He discussed the selection of journals based on the journal ranking like impact factor, SJR ranking and Quartile. He mentioned the structure of a paper and explained in detail the various sections like Title, Abstract, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussions and conclusion. He also talk about the importance of publication ethics like plagiarism, research fraud, slicing and simultaneous submission. Finally session concluded by the discussions on the checklists before submitting the paper to a journal.<\/p>\n

Total of 187 participants from 34 engineering and other professional institutions have participated in the webinar. All the participants were very enthusiastic and interacted with the resource person. Webinar was conducted using a Google meet platform.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
