The 21st centuryworld is a knowledge based society with multiple opportunities to grow. Global competitiveness is indeed a key ingredient of the 21st century engineering, working professionals and even the nation as a whole. It comes from innovative thinking, a systematic approach, convergence of technologies and above all, through dissemination of knowledge. In order to make these a reality, higher education institutions must become knowledge powerhouses, imparting value based education and inculcating team spirit. The teaching-learning methodologies used must be modern and innovative so as to build these capacities in the young minds to make them to be considered as ‘world class.’
World class engineers are those who consider engineering and technology as their life time mission; who set great technological goals that will lead them to think high, aim high, work and persevere to realize the goal for the betterment and growth of society and the nation; who commit themselves to apply their creative mind to innovate, invent or discover a process or a product, wherever they are; who adopt creativity, innovation and continuous learning as the success tools to reach their goals and who keep pace with the knowledge explosion taking place around them and constantly update their skill sets and competencies.SMVITM is an institution that makes sincere efforts in thisdirection.Hats off to the President, His Holiness ShriVishwavallabhaTheerthaSwamiji and the management, ShriSodeVadiraja Mutt Education Trust, Udupi for their untiring efforts to further the cause of higher education in an exemplary way!
At SMVITM, all possible efforts are made to produce such world class engineers by providing them with value added, holistic technical education in many ways – by making them get exposed to the latest technical know-how regularly; by training and guiding them towards application oriented engineering projects/courses; by encouraging them to apply their mind and think out of the box to find solutions to real time technological problems; by thinking beyond the conventional boundaries i.e. by creating an environment that promotes learning while nurturing professional and personal growth; by creating synergetic partnerships between the industry and the institution; by constant up gradation of infrastructure facilities and continuous improvement of faculty skill sets and by benchmarkingourselves against reputed institutes of higher rankings/ global standards.
As the present generation students are quite competitive, sharp, fast and creative, what is needed is proper direction, motivation, understanding, encouragement and backing in the institutes. At SMVITM, all efforts aremade to recognize, appreciate, mould and promote their creative and innovative ideas as the future of the country is in their hands.
